I had this problem and it took me a long time to figure out what was going on.
I do realize that in its current state, the example command given is probably not optimal, but I currently do not have the time to look further into the flatpak CLI docs etc. to give more general guidance.

Maybe somebody has more experience with that and can improve on my initial wording.

So unfortunately I don't think there are many simpler ways of doing this.
I'll check in the next few days if there's a better solution, but it might not be the case.
